6 Home Interior Design Renovation Styles That Wor

December 8, 2022
Your home is your haven, but it doesn’t have to be drab. With the right interior design ideas, you can turn a dingy living room into a stylish, welcoming space. It’s not always easy to pick out what type of home renovation style you should choose when renovating your house. But, thankfully, we have the experts on hand to help us with our interior design projects. In this article, we are going to look at some of the common home renovation styles and styles that work best. There are many different home renovation styles out there, and how to get that look.

Modern Style

Modern design is incorporated in most homes nowadays in some way. Why? Because this fashion is minimalist in its concentration on decluttering and takes a streamlined approach to design. The modern style, as opposed to minimalist interiors, is focused on using art and carefully chosen accent pieces to make understated statements.

How Can You Get the Look?

We’ve flooded the four rooms in our BTO design with warm neutral colors and natural materials. You may create this look and add an industrial touch to the room by using materials like leather, glass, mirror, and metal.  You could want to concentrate on using various forms in your designs, depending on your tastes. Think about sharp angles for a more stylish appearance or softer, rounded ones for a cozy atmosphere.

Scandinavian Design

What is one element that all of the interior design trends we’ve discussed so far have in common? You are 100% correct if you assumed that natural materials will be used. Natural materials like wood and rattan are still favored design elements in Singapore, and for good reason too! Popular design movements that accept and promote the use of natural textures include Scandinavian and Japanese aesthetics.

How do you achieve the look?

Due to the use of several pretty standard components, Scandinavian dwellings are fairly simple to identify. Such homes typically have muted colors, exposed furniture legs, natural materials, and an airy, bright style. Keep your decor simple to start incorporating this home improvement trend. Avoid clutter and just pay attention to the functional elements that you truly require. Choose a layout that is open and has lots of windows letting in sunshine. Through this design aesthetic, the goal is to get as near to nature as you can. The best colors for this home design style include beige, white, light brown, light grey, and other muted tones. When choosing furniture, choose pieces with exposed legs and wooden embellishments to finish the aesthetic.

Contemporary Design

Did you know that the term “modern design” relates to what is popular right now? Contrary to popular belief, modern design trends are not necessarily more focused on the present. This type of home remodeling may incorporate a variety of presently popular design components.

How do you achieve the look?

Since open floor plans are a popular feature in Singaporean homes, we concentrated more on them when creating this house. You might choose an open plan with areas that are evenly spaced out around the room because contemporary interior design is all about embracing trends. Another prominent element in modern homes is the use of neutral colors. With this, you can also emphasize certain regions of the house by utilizing colorful design items. Additionally, since neutral colors will always go with everything, you may keep adding customizations to your furniture as your tastes evolve.  In addition, you can utilize a variety of lighting systems, like this home does, to give your interiors a contemporary feel.

White Minimalism

So many of the interior design trends that we adore are founded on certain minimalism-related ideas. Therefore, it is not surprising that when renovating, this style is chosen by the majority of Singaporean residences. It’s all about keeping things straightforward and getting rid of clutter. This home design aesthetic is primarily about simplicity, clean lines, and textures rather than big, loud designs.

How do you achieve the look?

You should refrain from incorporating too many design elements into your room because the basic idea of minimalism is simplicity. Instead, use all-white decor that are accentuated by natural light to produce a cheerful area. Use pastel colors or light wooden embellishments to add some color. Form should come after function should be your main priority. Choose your furnishings and fixtures accordingly based on requirement rather than desire. Eliminate pointless frills from your surfaces and go for smooth surfaces as another method to embrace this interior design trend.

Eclectic Style

Using a variety of materials and art to create a distinctive design is the focus of this home remodeling trend. Although it might not appeal to everyone, the eclectic design has a lot to offer visually. This is your chance to create an eclectic-themed home if you love mixing diverse design elements together!

How do you achieve the look?

Can’t decide on just one color to use for your home’s decor? No issue, you can just incorporate them all into a home remodeling in an eclectic design. You don’t want to visually overcrowd the room with color, though. Try to limit your color exploration to no more than two or three key complementary colours. Use one of them for the walls, the others for the floor. You can incorporate this motif in your choice of furniture because eclectic design is all about mixing and matching. If you can’t decide between a modern or traditional theme, use a hybrid.  Additionally, you can add some customization by using patterned tiles to divide off different areas of your house. This not only establishes a distinctive focus point but also enables you to make a bold artistic statement in an open style.

Bohemian Design

Want to escape the city but don’t want to spend a fortune on a trip? You should think about making an interior design investment in boho style! Bohemian interior decorating is popular in Singaporean houses, with an emphasis on organic materials, a variety of textures, plants, and well-traveled accessories.

How do you achieve the look?

You can still dabble in a little bit of traditional bohemian interior design to get inspired, even though it might not work as well for modern dwellings. Take the house of Amanda and Justin as an example. They sought a boho-inspired space with all the elements of a cozy modern house during their HDB renovation. To achieve this, we used as many natural materials as we could in a straightforward design. The living room’s hardwood furnishings all give the place a rustic feel. We also kept the decor neutral, with pops of color added by various plants, to reinforce the cozy theme.  A boho home renovation would also be lacking without some trinkets and decorative things. So utilize as many trinkets and eclectic design objects as you can to achieve this appearance.

Top 10 Tips to Save Money on Your Project When Hiring a Renovation Contractors in Singapore

December 5, 2022
Are you in the process of planning and executing your next renovation project? And are you wondering how to save money for your renovation project? Would you like to save some cash while keeping the quality of your renovation high? It is important to save money on your renovation projects, because when you spend more on your project than you budgeted for, you could end up losing more money. Hence, you need to know and be sure what to do before the renovation project begins. Because your renovation is not an easy task and can be quite expensive, it is important to choose the right contractor for the job. And if you are on a tight budget, then finding someone who is affordable and capable enough to do the job is a challenge.

In this article, I’m going to walk you through all the top 10 ways to save money on your home renovations in Singapore. This list of tips is short and sweet. If you follow them, then you will be saving a ton of money and be able to complete the job much faster than you thought possible.

1. Do your research and follow the budget

There are a few things you can do to ensure you hire a reputable contractor who will do a good job on your renovation project. First, make sure you do your research. Ask around for recommendations and read online reviews as well as constantly look up renovation cost estimators on the internet. Get multiple quotes from different contractors before making a decision. Second, be clear about your budget from the start. Once you’ve decided on a contractor, get a detailed estimate of all costs and make sure you’re comfortable with the price before signing anything. A good contractor will work with you to find a solution that fits your budget. Finally, don’t be afraid to ask questions. A good contractor will be happy to answer any questions you have about the project.

2. Pay cash

If you’re planning on hiring a renovation contractor to help with your next project, there are a few ways you can save money. One way is to pay cash. This might seem like a strange tip, but many contractors will offer a discount if you pay in cash. This is because they save on transaction fees and can often get a better rate when they’re paid in cash. Moreover, paying with cash also allows you to avoid paying interest on a loan for the project. Lastly, it it can help you stay on budget by avoiding the temptation to add extra features to the project.

3. Take your time

Many people rush into hiring the first contractor they can find, but this is not always the best idea. Don’t rush into hiring the first contractor you meet. Interview multiple contractors and get quotes from each one. This will give you a better idea of the going rate for the type of work you need done. You may also be able to negotiate a lower price if you take your time and shop around. If you take your time and interview several different contractors, you will be more likely to find one that is both qualified and willing to work within your budget. By taking your time and doing your research, you can save money on your home renovation project.

4. Reuse materials

One way to save money on your project is to reuse materials. This can be anything from using recycled lumber to salvaging old tiles or light fixtures. Reusing materials is not only good for your wallet, but it’s also good for the environment. By reusing existing materials, you’re keeping them out of the landfill and reducing the need for new resources. If you’re not sure where to find reused materials, check with your local salvage yard or search online. You may be surprised at what you can find.

5. Wait for sales before making big purchases

One of the best ways to save money on your project is to wait for sales before making big purchases. This is especially true for items like flooring, cabinets, and appliances. Many home improvement stores offer significant discounts on these items from time to time, so it pays to wait for a sale before making your purchase. Of course, you’ll need to be aware of the sale schedule for the store you’re planning to buy from. Some stores have regular sales, while others only offer discounts on certain items at certain times of the year. Once you know when the store you’re planning to buy from has sales, you can plan your purchase accordingly and save a significant amount of money on your renovation project.

6. Sell anything you’re not using

If you’re planning a renovation, one of the best ways to save money is to sell anything you’re not using. This includes things like old furniture, appliances, building materials, and more. Selling these items can help you offset the cost of your renovation, and it’s a great way to declutter your home before the contractors come in.

7. Don’t pass up on saving-money opportunities

It is no secret that many homeowners are looking for ways to save money when it comes to their home improvement projects. In that case, you shouldn’t ever pass up on any saving money opportunities. Things that may seem little such as choosing less expensive materials, asking the contractor to use recycled materials, negotiating a lower price, or allowing the contractor to use some of their existing inventory can actually have a big impact on your overall budget.

8. Keep to the classics

When it comes to home renovations, it’s often tempting to go for the latest trends. But if you’re looking to save money on your project, it’s best to stick with classic design elements that will never go out of style. There are certain elements of a home that will never go out of style: crown molding, hardwood floors, and so on. By choosing these classic elements, you can avoid having to continually update your home to keep up with the latest trends. Not only will this save you money, but it will also make your home more timeless and valuable.

9. Balance high and low end materials

When you are planning a renovation project, it is important to find ways to save money without sacrificing quality. One way to do this is to balance high and low end materials. For example, you might use high end materials for your countertops and flooring, but use lower end materials for your cabinets and appliances. If you choose all high end materials, you will likely spend more money than necessary. Likewise, if you choose all low end materials, you may not be happy with the final results. It is important to find a middle ground between the two extremes. By using a mix of high and low end materials, you can achieve the look you want without breaking the bank.

10. Hiring professional help

Hiring professional help for your renovation project can be a great way to save money. While it may seem like an expense at first, hiring a renovation contractor can actually help you save money in the long run. First, a professional contractor will be able to help you get the job done right the first time. This can save you money on repairs or replacements down the road. Second, a professional contractor will have access to discounts and bulk pricing on materials. This can help you save money on your overall project costs. Lastly, a professional contractor can help you stay on schedule and on budget.

How To Choose Home Renovation Contractors in Singapore

December 2, 2022
Many homeowners in Singapore are looking for home renovation contractors that will do the job right. Before you start your “best renovation contractor in Singapore” or “recommended hdb renovation contractor” search, it is important to know what you want and be prepared with questions about your project budget, time frame, and home improvement needs. From home renovations to kitchen remodeling or bathroom renovation, As one of the top renovation contractor for any type of home improvement project! You can ask anything to turn your dream home into reality

What is HDB licensed contractor

To become licensed, a HDB approved contractor must complete the HDB training program. They must also have at least three years of experience and be actively involved in renovation. The company must have been ACRA-registered for at least one year, and the contractor must have owned the company for at least 12 months. Finally, the contractor’s company should not be the subject of any complaints. HDB approved contractor are required to follow strict rules or face a transparent demerit system and fines. For example, if they replace floor tiles without permission, they may be fined $500 to $2,000 and receive three to twelve demerit points. If a contractor’s renovation registration is suspended due to serious infractions, it can be revoked.

Why choose approved hdb renovation contractor

Your HDB flat necessitates special attention. When you’re ready to renovate it, it’s critical to work with a HDB approved contractor with a solid reputation for your renovation work. When you hire a HDB approved contractor, you can be confident that the work will be done correctly and efficiently. Before you choose your final contractor or interior design firm, keep in mind that cheaper does not always mean better in the long run. Contractors who are not HDB-licensed are not necessarily bad contractors who perform poor-quality work. Instead, HDB approved contractor have undergone training to ensure that they do not damage the building’s infrastructure or negatively impact neighboring flats. Contractors can become licensed to work on HDB flats through the HDB’s Registered Renovation Contractors’ Scheme (RRCS). This program was created to regulate the actions of contractors working in HDB flats so that they do not annoy building residents or damage HDB property. Remember that there are numerous renovation websites in Singapore dedicated to catching untrustworthy contractors. Let’s face it: when it comes to home renovations, you want to hire someone you can rely on.

Following are the 5 tips that will you choose a trusted home renovation contractor in Singapore:

Contractors Research:

When it comes to choosing the right contractor for your home renovation project, you should do a little research. You need to get different quotes from contractors and see what they’re offering so that you can choose one with an affordable price tag but still someone who has plenty of experience in this field. The more experienced they are, the better- chances are higher that everything will go smoothly! Ask around too about which companies have done projects like yours before as well because these people might be able to recommend some options if none come up when researching on your own. Which home renovation project are you doing? Home renovations, kitchen remodels, bathroom, hdb renovation and more can be done by HDB renovation contractors. No matter what type of home improvement needs you have- there’s a contractor for that!

Plan your budget:

If you don’t plan your budget beforehand, it will be hard to find a contractor that matches all of the needs for your home. Different contractors have different offerings and if you haven’t set any kind of reasonable budget for this project then there is no way that we could help with finding one who can fit into what both parties are looking for in order to make an agreement! Setting a good amount as needed will also allow room on how much negotiation they would like too do when deciding which cost should come out. Be clear on what you want. You also need to be very specific about what home renovation project that you are looking for. This will help the contractor know which type of service they should provide and how much time it’s going to take, so that both parties can get a better idea of whether or not this is something worth pursuing in regards

Check for Renovation contractors expertise:

The renovation process can be long and arduous, so you’ll want to make sure that the contractor is experienced in renovating homes. While some contractors may finish a project within just days or weeks with their expertise, others take months for completion due differences in experience levels of contractors. You should look carefully at past examples of projects completed by each potential company before making your decision on which one will get the job done!

Ask Renovation contractors for estimated completion time:

Choosing a HDB renovation contractor only on the basis of price quote is not wise. You should also know what completion time they are offering with that quote, as this can affect your choice in contractors drastically. For example, if one company charges more than another but has less completion time offered to you, it would be worth your money if you want work completed at soonest possible because then there will be no wait for when you need access back into your renovated home. Take care and read all terms before signing any contracts!

Warranties and guarantees from Renovation contractors:

It’s important to make sure that your contractor is using high quality materials and products on the project, as you want it done well for now and in the long-term. If they’re not giving any guarantees of what was used during construction or refurbishment, be cautious!  Check that you are getting a warranty for all the home renovation work done and make sure to ask if it’s transferable in case you sell your home. Key Points:  – Researching contractors is important when considering which one to choose, as they vary greatly with experience levels!   Setting a budget beforehand will help determine what type of home improvements you want to make and will also help with negotiations.   Make sure to be specific about your home improvement project when looking for a contractor, as it can affect what type of service they provide!

How much does it cost to do a full house renovation?

The average cost to remodel a house is $19,800 to $73,200. The extent of the renovation will affect what materials and appliances are needed for each job which can range from simply replacing countertops all the way up to installing new plumbing fixtures. A whole-house renovation averages around 15 square feet per dollar spent on renovations with an approximate price tag ranging between 10k and 60K depending on how much work needs done; whereas only renovating one room in your home may set you back as little as 100 dollars or more than 250 if getting rid of old kitchen cabinets is priority number 1! The amount someone invests into their home depends largely upon personal preference when it comes down to deciding whether they want just a change here or there, or if they want to go all out with a full home renovation.

How do I find out if a contractor is HDB approved?

When you become a homeowner, you may consider renovating your home to suit your personal taste and comfort. With our e-Service, you can find a contractor from the Directory of Renovation Contractors (DRC) or a BCA Approved Window Contractor. When performing renovations and protecting the structural integrity of the building, the contractors listed in the DRC are aware of the HDB’s requirements. HDB does not endorse or guarantee the quality of their works. It’s important to be specific about what home improvements you’re looking for before undertaking the home renovations process, as it’ll help determine which contractor should do the job and how much time will need to be allotted

10 Best criteria you should look for before choosing renovation contractors

1. Get Multiple Estimates

Find contractors who will give you written estimates. You can ask for HDB contractors recommended by your friends, family, or acquaintance. Make sure to compare estimates so you get the best price. Look at building materials, work methods, timelines, and other variables that may be different by your licensed contractor. It is a good idea to be cautious of estimates that are too high. Make sure to check the math behind the estimate.

2. Hire Local, Licensed Contractors Whenever Possible

Local contractors are easier to contact if problems develop with the work in the future. If the contractor is local, ask them for their physical address. You should be suspicious of anyone who visits your home and refuses to leave unless you’re expecting them.

3. Check Their Past Work

How has their work turned out in the past? Do they specialize in the kind of work you want? Ask for references to check their products’ quality, workmanship, and customer service. Ask if the Better Business Bureau has rated them. Hiring a contractor with more than five years of experience is better.

4. Take Your Time Making a Sound Decision

Never rely on just one bid before making your final selection. You have a few days to decide whether or not you want to sign the contract. There is no rush to make an immediate decision. When someone requests to pay a large deposit up front, be cautious. The person might be scamming you, and you don’t want to end up paying a lot of fees that you might not recover from if they don’t sell your product. If you are in any doubt, ask a sales rep to check the contract or estimate for you. You need to do some research on contractors who do emergency repairs for you. Find out if anyone you know has had a positive experience with this type of contractor

5. Check Their Insurance and Bonding

Get proof that the contractor is properly insured and bonded. Ask for a contractor’s certificate of insurance, which should provide the contractor’s insurance carrier, policy number and policy limits. Check with the insurance company to verify that your policy is still in effect. Make sure you work with someone who carries the appropriate insurance coverage. You could be liable for accidents that occur on your property if the contractor is not insured.

6. Get Everything in Writing

Don’t sign your contract until work has begun. If your employer doesn’t provide a contract that’s clear and well-written, then you need to do it yourself. Having a lawyer review the proposed contract for your protection is a good idea. The contract should include:
  • The price of each item and a description of the work to be completed are included.
  • Balance due upon completion of repairs will be one-half down and one-third when work is partially completed.
  • There is an estimated start and completion date for large projects.
  • The contract should clearly state who is responsible for the guarantee and how long it is valid.
  • Both parties’ signatures were present. You shouldn’t sign a contract if it has blank sections.
All parties should acknowledge changes in writing. Ask the contractor if he or she has obtained all required permits and if the work complies with local and state requirements. You should follow the contract’s cancellation clause if you decide to cancel it. To make sure you have proof of the cancellation, send a written notice through registered mail.

7. Understand Your Right to Cancel

Federal law requires a “cooling off” period, in which you can cancel the contract without penalty. Make sure to follow applicable rules during the cooling-off period. If you cancel within 30 days from the scheduled delivery date, the customer must send the returned products back to us.

8. Don’t Pay Up-Front

You shouldn’t pay for the entire project before it’s done. Don’t use cash to pay for things; make checks payable to the company. It is normal to pay a third of the estimated costs as an initial payment for larger projects. If you keep your check as a receipt, you can cash it.

 9. Anticipate Delays

It is possible that delays aren’t the fault of your contractor. Despite the timelines outlined in your contract, the weather may prevent the work from being completed on time. Prepare to modify your plans if you are realistic.

10. Keep a Job File

Keep your contract and all the supporting documents in one folder. You need to create a file that contains all relevant documents. It should include a change order, the contract between you and the contractor, and any correspondence with the contractor.
